Although we didn’t start our session in the greenhouse, this is definitely the location me and the other photographers were most excited for. The amazing lighting and greenery makes this quaint little place perfect for portraits and couple shots.

The focus was truly on Alexi in those first moments, each photographer became obsessed with getting a stunning bridal portrait. The details on the dress, the flower in her hair, and the warm sun really did allow each of us to capture some dreamy images. And once we added Josiah to the mix, each photo began screaming romance in every way. You could really feel their love in person and through the screen.

In May, I was invited to my very first styled session at Oak Hill Pastures here in St. James, Missouri. This venue was where one of my best friends got married just one year ago, so that made this shoot all the more special. Every corner of the Oak Hill felt like it was meant for storytelling - from the charming greenhouse to the reception space and the quiet ceremony spot. Everything about the venue made me more and more excited to capture the beautiful couple, Josiah and Alexi.

The perfect place to relive that wedding day feeling

As the sun began to set around 7, we all made our way down to the field for golden hour. Josiah grabbed Alexi’s hand and slowly guided her through the foliage, her gown and veil perfectly draped out behind her as she followed his lead. The yellow hue of the sun was shining right at their heads, making them look almost angelic as they walked side by side. Perfect is the word I would use to describe this moment - although cliche of me - how else do you describe such a beautiful sunset acquainting such a beautiful couple?

Our last stop was the altar, and what a perfect end. The couple recreated their precious moment of exchanging rings and vows. They laughed and smiled softly throughout, making for the perfect candid images that I was able to capture.
