Senior Sessions
April 8th, 2025
Meeting in band camp, it should come to no surprise to know it was art that connected us and the reason our friendship truly began. Four years later and we are now four senior photo shoots down and sadly none left to go - but of course this isn’t the end of our photo shoot journey.
One big reason I knew photography was for me was because when I took pictures of others, I didn’t judge them like I judged myself. I saw the beauty in the person and in the moment. It was a new way to see someone, to get to know them. This is why I absolutely love getting to take photos for my friends. Getting the privilege to get to know them in a new way is fascinating and one of my favorite things about photography. This of course was no exception when it came to my friend, Tyler.
Although we typically have an exact idea of what the shoot is going to look like, going into this session Tyler and I didn’t really have a vision for what we wanted. We drove to the park with my barely functioning antique chair and a dream, but everything seemed to work out in our favor. The lighting was perfect, the weather was beautiful, and we ended up getting some of my favorite shots I’ve taken to date - it simply felt like everything was meant to be.
One thing about Tyler is that he knows how to pose. Directing him is almost completely unnecessary during our shoots - he just knows exactly what to do and where to go. So when I gave him my polaroid camera to pose with, I knew he was going to deliver. We ended up with this shot (see below) which I’ve slowly become obsessed with. The light shining on his hair, the camera perfectly covering half of his face, the bokeh in the back…truly amazing.
